Follow me behind the scenes

November 26, 2009

Dot Sim advised me to watch a series of documentaries that Kath Libbert did as part of an exhibition at the Kath Libbert Jewellery Gallery and it was called ‘Follow Me.’  It was a documentary that showed the ‘behind the scenes’ of a jeweller/metalsmith.

Kath invited visitors to…

“explore and understand the processes behind the designers’ creative development”

This is an excellent idea and it is similar to the idea that I have for my residency exhibition. I want to show the work that goes into a piece of jewellery. Detailing the physical and the emotional, the expense, the time, the creativity, the sketchbooks, the marketing and the selling.

Every step a jeweller has to make in the process of making a piece of jewellery.

This is great research. Watch the first part of the video here.

What do you think? What is the one thing you would like to see from behind the scenes at Vanilla Ink?
