Me on the Dundee Pop Up…

February 6, 2010

Dundee Pop Up Tour from Central Station

Kicked off the morning with a meet and  greet at Duncan of Jordanstone and met the Central Station Team and I was awarded my EXCLUSIVE central station badge.

The day started with a graduate showcase. Talks from recent DOJ graduates Jeanette Ginslov, Cat Lee Mar and Jo Hodge. All of which have been very successful since leaving DOJ and becoming more and more recognised every day.

Next we hit the WASPS studios where we met a few of the residents. Genna Dalaney, Nicola Morris and Lindsey Gardiner. I decided to check out WASPS to gain some research for Vanilla Ink. What I took away from the studios was the need for exhibition space. Genna and Nicola both agreed that there is a need for spaces to exhibit their jewellery in Dundee. There are plenty of retail spaces but a place to have one off exhibitions, is in short supply. Maybe this is something Vanilla Ink can offer.

Would you want to exhibit in Vanilla Ink….?

So the next stop on the Pop Up tour is “This is…” in the Hannah Maclure centre. Six speakers are coming in to talk to us about their work. I’m particularly looking forward to Johanna Basford and the V&A.

This is the part where I get excited and inspired and fired up. Hearing people talk about their work gets me in the ‘zone’ and opens my mind up to new possibilities and ideas.

There will be a full blog post soon with details of the speakers and if the speakers inspired me…
